One of my go-to shoes from fall through spring is a great pair of over the knee boots! I’ve had fancier pairs of OTK boots over the years, but this year, I snagged a pair for under $40 at Target. And y’all– Target really pulled through for me. I have been wearing them constantly! So, I was so pumped to see a few of you request over the knee boots outfits my latest style session!
I’ve shared them quite a few times here and on Instagram, so many of these looks may be familiar! But I narrowed it down to three of my favorite outfit formulas and a total of six outfits. These outfit ideas will hopefully give you the basic formula to create many outfit variations with what you have in your own closet!
Leggings With Over The Knee Boots
I’ve made no secret about the fact that I’ve been living in leggings for the past few weeks! In fact, my last styling session was, of course, leggings! (You can see several ways I wore my faux leather Spanx here!) But one of my favorite ways to wearing leggings is with OTK boots.
The combination of black leggings and black boots creates the appearance of mile long legs! Who doesn’t love that?! For this formula, I love using a long tunic-length layer to cover the booty and then adding a third piece or outfit topper.
For my first outfit, I did that with this long button down tunic. And my third piece is my puffer jacket. Other ways I’d mix this look up is with a denim jacket, a moto jacket, long cardigan, or even a heavier coat.

Here’s a variation for you with the long cardigan!
For the next look, I used a long black turtleneck with my Spanx leggings! For my third piece/outfit topper, I went with a poncho wrap. This combination just screams chic to me! Again the all-black is slimming and creates long beautiful lines! To switch this look up, I could use any of the toppers I mentioned before: a denim jacket, a moto jacket, or a long cardigan would work well here too.

Dress with Over the Knee Boots
Many types of dresses can work well with over the knee boots, but I favor more casual options! Think shirt dresses, tshirt dresses, sweater dresses, and wrap dresses! For this outfit formula, I went with a dress, boots, and a third piece as well.
The first look is simple but I love the slightly modern take on this school girl classic. I simply layered a light sweater over a plaid button down dress! To avoid adding a lot of bulk, this look works best with lighter sweaters over chunkier ones! I also prefer a more tunic length to create longer lines rather then a short sweater and longer dress!
Another favorite outfit topper of mine is a sweater vest! Don’t have one? Simply swap it for a long cardigan! Other third pieces I love for this look are a blazer, moto jacket, or denim jacket.

And here are a few more variations for you!
Jeans with Over the Knee Boots
Last but not least– good ole denim! I could probably write an entire post just about jeans with over the knee boots because the options are truly endless!
For the first look, I went with a chambray button down, but really any top in your wardrobe could work here! Try a tshirt, a long sleeve top, a plaid top, a turtleneck, a sweater, or a camisole! For the third piece I love this moto jacket!
So major fail on this last look for y’all. Where’s the third piece? Uh, missing. ?But I shared several toppers in my video for you that I’ll post below to give you more ideas!
And some variations here!
